Desert Sunset

The desert sunset is simply beautiful - the vastness of the landscape, the crisp sunkissed air and everything bathed in a deep golden hue. It's a fleeting sight - the light changes every minute, and the sun sinks at the horizon faster than you realize. Ón a warm summer evening, driving westward on in the desert of Arizona, I soaked in this divine sight - a brilliantly setting sun, a coppery country road and a lorry bouncing merrily on its way.

The first signs of Autumn

The first signs of fall...its already dark by the time I finish dinner, the nights are chilly and the pavements are sprinkled with leaves; the manequinns in the shop windows flatter polo necks and jackets but we try to keep ourselves cozy with scarfs and stockings, still hoping for a warm day or two before its 'offcially' Autumn.

The tourist

The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people's reality, and eventually in one's own.

Fields of gold

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of Barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
As we walked the fields of gold.

One of the numerous doors and windows that I've been meaning to paint since long. This is my first attempt, inspired by the wooden planks of the window - the rotting crevices, rusting hinges and peeling paint. The texture, color, age and depth...they've stood-by in rain and sun and have born the brunt of the lashing wind...

Salt and Pepper

"A loaf of bread," the Walrus said,
Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed--
Now if you are ready, Oysters dear,
we can begin to feed"

Rush hour

The first painting of 2011! Tried keeping the brush strokes loose in the background to capture the glow of evening city lights and the fading hustle bustle towards the horizon.
